Observation: what you can see, hear or measure.
Explanation: the reason you think it happened.

Try this: leave an ice cube on a plate. Record what you see after 5, 10 and 20 minutes. Then write one observation and one explanation.

Keep them separate. That is how scientists stay honest with evidence.
